Born in Savannah, Georgia and reared in Harlem, Gary, was raised with sounds of music. His mother was a jazz songstress who graced stages in metropolitan areas, often times with young Gary in tow. During this time, she saw to it that her child was well versed in the Christian faith. He not only flourished spiritually, but displayed exceptional musical gifts at an early age.

Although the New York native had never considered a musical life, his debut actually came when he sang at his mother's church. Gary would later join an actor's guild called "Writers and Residence" where he had his first taste of the spotlight. Proficient without any professional vocal training, he was offered the lead role in the production of "The Gospel According to Tommy Dorsey" followed by a lead principle position in "No Name in the Street."

After realizing that singing was the vehicle best suited to express his creative passion, Gary teamed with his wife and established His & Her Records. Their debut album featured a mixture of R&B and contemporary gospel rhythms that appealed to a massive audience.

As Gary continued to grow creatively and spiritually, with the vision of broadening his reach to include people from many cultures and walks of life, he was introduced to the Christian Cultural Center and Pastor A.R. Bernard. Within six months Gary's talents were recognized by Pastor Bernard and he was asked to join The Voices of Christian Cultural Center, the energy packed, spirit-filled, vocal vehicle for communicating the Word & Glorifying God.

In time, Gary became the worship leader of the 17,000 plus member congregation, a position which he has held for over 10 years. He has been privileged to lead many other worship services for various ministries including New Birth pastored by Bishop Eddie L. Long and the International Christian Men's Network under the leadership of the late Dr. Edwin Louis Cole. He has also coordinated the all male choir for the Promise Keepers organization headed by Bill McCartney while they were at Shea Stadium.
