When I was a young girl growing up in the church I can remember two songs that I call the “train songs.” One song I sang with three other cousins in a quartet was “People Get Ready There’s A Train Coming” which I believe was originally performed by Curtis Mayfield. My grandmother, in a skit she used to perform in the church entitled “This Train,” sang the other song.

For my purposes, the trains in these songs represent Jesus’ return for His bride - the church. Jesus is coming back and He has already started His journey. My question to you: “Are you ready to ride the train?” Ephesians 5:27 KJV says, “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Well, you might ask, how can I become holy and without blemish? How can I ride that train? 1 John 1:9 KJV says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Romans 10:9-10 states, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

John 1:12 KJV says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. ” I am here to encourage you today and to let you know that you, too, can ride that train. Jesus is the conductor and the train will be pulling into the station any day now. No matter what station of life you may be at right now, you can get ready to ride that train.
