Thinking of a Picasso painting? Not quite. This spring, makeup colors are vibrant, vivid, sharp, and glistening, a far cry from the subtle, drab, monochromic shades of winter. Trends in clothing and makeup are reverting back to the past, recapturing the free spirited times of the 80’s. Think watermelon red, sun yellow oranges, passion fruit pink, green limes and pomegranate fushia. Dramatic and playful describes this season’s take on makeup. No need to be disheartened if you’re one to shy away from colors. Bright doesn’t necessarily mean pronounced, choosing hues that are of a translucent and reflective nature will add a soft touch and tone down the brashness of dramatic color palettes. The resulting look is luminescent, flirty and ultra feminine. If you want to wear color, play up one feature at a time such as the eyes and lips. Another key is to blend.
Colors that glows
With such products as ‘mango tango’ and ‘iced mauve’ lipstick, ‘island sands’ eyeshadow, Maybelline’s new collection, ‘Island Hop’ has given us hope to have that ‘island glow without setting foot on a plane to the islands.
It was just too difficult to walk away with only one, and as you know these products do not come cheap. If you are looking for that sun-kissed glow without the tan, Iman Cosmetics has a line of great bronzing powders.
Moist, glossy lips reigns this spring. Opaque glosses, cream and sheer lipsticks, will define and enhance that pout. Whatever you choose to bring out the best in your spring make over, remember that there are no hard set rules cemented in stone.
The key is in making and defining your own style. Once you’ve established that, then the playing field is boundless and there’s nothing stopping you!
