Fine China

Fine China

I have heard it said women are like fine china.

1 Peter 3:7 - Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. <

The phrase "weaker vessel" has been taken out of context by men to further their male chauvinistic agenda and marginalize women in society and in the Body of Christ.

We are called to be vessels of honor for the Master's use, molded through the breaking of the potter's wheel. Proven and processed in the furnace by the fiery trials of life to be sanctified for presentation to the world.

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor
1 Thessalonians 4:4

Your vessel is YOU; your body your Temple.

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:22-32

The wife or any woman is a vessel of greater beauty, a creation of splendor to be cared for and presented without spot or blemish. Just like fine china that you might bring out on special occasions. The reason why fine china is "weaker" is that it can be easily scratched or wounded unlike iron or steel (men). Women are just more caring and tenderhearted thus they are weaker vessels. THEY ARE NOT weak. They can carry and birth another human made in the image of God, enduring pain no man could ever bear.
