Special Father’s Day Message: Hand Hugs
During another troubling time in my life, I had a dream of being attacked and out of nowhere a pair of hands reached out to me and I grabbed them. Instinctively, in my sleep and in my waking hours, I knew those were the hands of the Father leading me to safety.
God the Father, I’ve learned over the years, never ceases to give us hand hugs. He hugs our hands through every trial and tribulation, every joy and victory and I’d suppose He hugs our hands ‘just because.’
There is a certain joy I derive from watching fathers hold their children’s hands. It is almost enviable to see the look of contentment and security on the faces of kids. They have this big man hugging their hand, gently guiding them, but more than anything they have a father who, in a simple act, is connected to them. (A father once told me that he bonded with his children the moment they wrapped their little fingers around one of his fingers.)
As children of Father God, we can wrap Him around our fingers too. We can have Him charmed and in love with us though it will not necessarily equate to receiving everything we want. However, all He has to do is hug our hand and we can be assured that we have everything we need, especially Him.
