Soon he’s given two rookies to train, one decides he’s unimpressed with Dugan’s ability to close his eyes to life and that he must, quickly, be reassigned. While the other looks to allow the police force and Dugan to prepare him to be the best man and officer possible. Both soon regret their choices.

Narcotics Task Force Officer Sal Procida (Ethan Hawke – Training Day) is a serious Catholic and family man whose faith is dwindling fast. He even says during confession, “I don’t want God’s forgiveness, I want His help.” He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Angela (Lili Taylor – Public Enemies) and their 5 children and soon a set of twins. Their running out of space in the home and Angela’s Asthma and one of the unborn twins are in danger due to the increasing mold buildup in the house. Sal’s salary simply doesn’t afford them the opportunity to move – yet. He is committed to providing a better life and home for his family – by any means necessary. In no time the drug busts begin to look like his only hope. He’s so conflicted though, in one scene he’s praying in the elevator and can’t seem to say “Amen” because there’s also a gun in his hand. Which will he choose the prayer or the gun?

Then there’s Undercover Officer Clarence Butler (Don Cheadle, Hotel Rwanda, Crash, Traitor) known undercover as “Tango.” Successfully undercover in prison for some time, Tango’s then sent to Brooklyn to continue cover, all the while his wife is filing for divorce. He wants his life back! Bill, his Lieutenant (Will Patton – The Fourth Kind) continues to string him along if he only does “one more thing.” The one more thing is to take down drug kingpin, Casanova (Wesley Snipes – New Jack City) who’s also the one man that saved Tango’s life while in prison. His choice becomes whether to save his personal and professional life or the man who saved his life? It’s during Agent one of Tango’s undercover meetings with Bill that we meet Agent Smith played by (Ellen Barkin – Ocean’s Thirteen ) to pressurize the situation even more by threatening Butler’s career and marriage even further.
